Nicole Kidman was born on 20 June 1967 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Her family soon moved to her mother’s hometown of Sydney, Australia. At a young age, Nicole developed an interest in acting and starred in several small theater productions before eventually landing a role in the Australian movie Bush Christmas (1983). That same year, she graduated from Australia’s Phillip Street Theater at the young age of 16.

Dead Calm (1989), a thriller movie gave her desired fame, name and recognition. For Days of Thunder (1990) she moved to the United States and started a relationship with Tom Cruise. Both of them got married in 1990 and divorced soon in 2001. Later in 2006, she married country singer Keith Urban.

In 1995, viewers were finally able to witness Nicole’s brilliance on the silver screen with her role in Gus van Sant’s tragicomedy To Die For. It was postulated that Nicole gave one of her best performances in this movie as she embodied a manipulative killer-in-the-making while still maintaining some comical aspects of the character. Critics applauded Nicole’s performance and even considered it as a breakthrough for her career. After that, she completed dozens of films. 

In April 2022, Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman starred in an episode of the Cecelia Ahern story collection anthology series Roar and served as executive producer. In the same month, she acted in The Northman, directed by Robert Eggers, featured alongside her Big Little Lies co-star Alexander Skarsgård, Anya Taylor-Joy, Ethan Hawke and Willem Dafoe.

In the early 2000s, Kidman gradually transitioned away from independent films and began to appear in big-budget franchise films like ‘Moulin Rouge’ and ‘The Hours’, which earned her a Best Actress Academy Award. She also appeared in widely successful movies such as ‘The Others’ (2001) and gained recognition for her performance in ‘Birth’ (2004). Her filmography over this period of time varied greatly, transforming her career in an unprecedented manner.

She also did the voiceover in the “Happy Feet” film released in the same year. Both of these movies didn’t return the best fame but “The Golden Compass” released in 2007 and “Australia” released in 2008 received lots of accolades and fame.
